How to clear cookies automatically on a schedule
Chrome can only clear cookies when you close every window, and only for all sites at once. ClearKit gives you real rules: choose the data types, choose a cadence from every 15 minutes to every 24 hours (or browser startup), and let the whitelist keep your sessions alive.
Doing it manually in Chrome
- 1Open Chrome Settings → Privacy and security → Third-party cookies.
- 2Under Site settings, turn on "Delete cookies and site data when you close all windows".
- 3Add exceptions by hand for the sites that should keep their cookies.
- 4Restart the browser for the setting to take effect.
Where the manual way falls short
- It only fires when every window closes. If your browser stays open for days, nothing is ever cleared.
- It covers cookies only — cache, history and site data keep piling up, and no other cadence is possible.
Doing it with ClearKit
- 1Open ClearKit's settings and add an auto-clean rule.
- 2Choose the data types and the time range the rule should cover.
- 3Pick a cadence — every 15 minutes through every 24 hours, or at browser startup — and save.
Free, offline and no account needed — and because the whitelist protects your sessions, you can do this as often as you like.
