How to clear the cache in Chrome
Open Chrome's Delete browsing data dialog with Ctrl+Shift+Delete, choose a time range, tick "Cached images and files" and confirm. With ClearKit the same clean is one click from the toolbar — or an automatic rule that runs every few hours.
Doing it manually in Chrome
- 1Press Ctrl+Shift+Delete (Cmd+Shift+Delete on macOS) to open Delete browsing data.
- 2Pick a time range — choose "All time" if pages still look stale.
- 3Tick "Cached images and files" and untick anything you want to keep.
- 4Click Delete data, then reload the page you were troubleshooting.
Where the manual way falls short
- The dialog is all or nothing: it cannot skip the sites you want left alone, so it is tempting to tick cookies as well and log yourself out of everything.
- You have to remember to do it. There is no schedule, no shortcut, and no record of what was cleared or when.
Doing it with ClearKit
- 1Open ClearKit with Alt+Shift+K and pick your time range.
- 2Tick "Cached files" and "Cache storage" — pin them so they are preselected next time.
- 3Clear. Or add an auto-clean rule and stop thinking about it altogether.
